Jakleen FAO 225
Jakleen (FAO 225) is a late-maturing, high-yielding maize for very favourable UK sites, consistently exceeding 50 t/ha potential. With excellent drought tolerance, strong early vigour, tall erect plants and stay-green traits, it produces massive, well-filled cobs with high digestibility and ME content. Ideal for light to medium soils, Jakleen maximises the full growing season for top silage or grain yields.
Cob Ripeness
Jakleen has very large cobs with large flat grains. The grain becomes red as it matures indicating full maturity. Cob ripening days after Lovely + 25.
Maturity Group
FAO 225. Late maturing variety for the best growing sites only. Allows the full growing season to be utilised.
Quality and Digestibility
The very high digestibility of Jakleen and very high yield combine to produce very high ME yields to be clamped in favourable areas. Harvest when fully mature.
Yield
Sow at 36,000 - 40,000 seeds per acre (90,000 - 100,000 seeds/ha.) to maximise output. High yielding variety tested by NIAB since 2021 achieving over 20t/DM/Ha. and producing the highest yield in 2023 of 22.5t/ha.
