Micheleen FAO 220
This FAO 220 variety is a superb, high-yielding maize with excellent drought tolerance, strong early vigour, and a long harvest window. Producing large, tapered cobs with high starch and ME content, it performs exceptionally on light, sandy soils and top sites. Tall, erect plants with good digestibility make it ideal for both forage and grain production, delivering maximum output per hectare.
Cob Ripeness
Large fat tapered cob with smoky grains which darken as starch is layed down in the grain. Cob ripening days after Lovely + 22
Maturity Group
FAO 220. Later maturing variety for the best growing sites allowing harvesting teams with large areas to cut time to harvest at the optimum dry matter.
Quality and Digestibility
Good digestibility combines with very high yield for superb ME yields per hectare. Good starch content driven by good cob ripeness for maturity group.
Yield
Sow at 36,000 to 42,500 seeds per acre (99,000 - 105,000 seeds/ha.) to maximise output. Highest yielding variety tested by NIAB in very favourable sites.
