Wesley FAO 210
NEW Wesley (FAO 210) is a dual-purpose maize suitable for forage or grain, offering early grain maturity with a long harvest window. With strong early vigour, robust growth, large well-filled cobs, and good stay-green, it delivers high starch silage and energy-dense forage. Tolerant to drought and smut, Wesley performs particularly well on light soils and mainstream sites.
Cob Ripeness
Long erect cobs with a large number of grains per cob which drives starch maturity and yield.
Maturity Group
FAO 210. Good maturity for growers on mainstream sites. Strong plant with good vigour from the start allowing yields to be maximised.
Quality and Digestibility
The large cobs and good cob ripeness results in silage with a good starch level for a longer season variety, ideal cattle with high genetics are being fed and energy density is required.
Yield
Sow at 40,000 to 42,000 seeds per acre (99,000 to 104,000 seeds/ha.) to obtain highest yields. Having completed 3 years of trials it will be added to the Niab DL in 2027where it will be one of the highest yielding varieties. Can be sown for grain at the reduced plant population of 90,000 seeds ha.
